Kicks for Kids!The Go No Sen Karate Educational Center celebrates it's 17th year in business. The Center's head instructor; Renshi Adam McCauley, takes pride in having established a family center martial arts school in its immaculate setting, complete with state of the art Olympic style padded flooring.
Go No Sen Karate provides a full range of instruction for children, men and women. It offers children's programs graded according to appropriate challenge. For 3/12 to 5 year olds, there is the "Little Dragon's" program which focuses on developing basic motor skills, balance, concentration and coordination. In McCauley's view, "Our children's programs deal effectively with peer pressure." Student's are tested and promoted according to their mastery of karate strategies and techniques. The progression through skill levels gives the students what McCauley describes as "the sense of achievement, motivation, and concentration necessary to meet and master challenges. these accomplishments carry over into their everyday lives., including school work."

I enrolled my son David in Go No Sen Karate in August of 2001. At the time, I thought it would be a fun thing to do. Who knew that it would have such an impact on many different aspects of his life later on. It has taught him discipline, focus, determination and most of all to never ever give up. Besides getting straight A's in school, karate has helped him excel in sports as well. Some of the things that he has learned at Go No Sen were actually exemplified just recently. David came home very excited after a track meet. He told me that he had broken the record for the longest discus throw in Blue Mountain Middle School history. The record was 88 ft and he threw 97 ft 8". the next words out of his mouth were "mom it was the focus and determination from karate that did it". I have made many major decisions in my lifetime and the decision to sign David up at Go No Sen Karate 8 yrs ago was by far one of the best!!!
McCauley stresses karate's integration of mind, spirit, and body. "Karate emphasizes strategy and technique over size and strength. The best strategy in self defense is R.A.D! Recognize dangerous situations, Avoid them, and if all else fails, Defend yourself. Go No Sen Karate equips the students with infinite ways to use an opponents' strength against them.
Go No Sen adult program (for ages 16 and older) for men and women combines traditional karate with modern day techniques for teaching self defense and strategies for safety. Group and private instruction are available. Renshi McCauley has over 26 years teaching experience and is a certified sixth degree black belt instructor. He is an internationally recognized authority on rape and assault prevention and conducts seminars on "street smarts" for local and federal law enforcement agencies along with bully prevention strategies for public and private schools. Renshi McCauley has been inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame for 2008, 2009 and 2010 for "Instructor of the year!"
Go No Sen also features a Fitness Kickboxing program for women, a program which Muscle & Fitness magazine has rated as a uniquely effective workout. McCauley describes it as "an intense, fun workout with upbeat music that burns up to 800 calories an hour. It's a "learn while you burn" program!
