MULLER THURGAU TROCKEN 2008, Schloss Muhlenhof (Germany)
Need an alternative to Sauvignon Blanc? Try this white wine from the Rheinhessen. It’s has a fruity bouquet of citrus and green apples followed by flavors of lime, grapefruit and apricots. Lively acidity gives it a fresh, long finish. “Trocken” signifies the wine is dry. The grape Muller-Thurgau is named for Dr. H. Muller, from Thurgau , Switzerland who crossed Riesling with a variety named Madeleina Royale. Great find at a great price.
COL DE LAIROLE 2007, Coteaux du Languedoc, (France)
Rich, deep black cherry color is followed by a forward bouquet of spice and mature fruit. The blend for this wine includes syrah with its complexity and raspberry and herb flavors, some pepper and licorice from the Carignan grape, and hints of cherry from Grenache grape all reinforced by the Mourvedre grape, the staple of province wines, that gives it good structure.

PINOT GRIGIO 2009, Cellar #8, Asti Winery (CA) Lovely tropical bouquet followed by a light, elegant and balanced wine that offers refreshing flavors of grapefruit and slight hints of lemon. A wonderful summer wine. CABERNET SAUVIGNON RESERVE SELECTION 2007 Hayman & Hill Winery, Napa, (CA) Great Napa Cabernet berry bouquet. It is a full-body wine that is complex and well structured. Look for flavors of chocolate, plum, and exiting spices plus a full, rich finish. DOMAINE STE. MICHELLE BRUT, N/V (WA STATE) When you celebrate the 4th, bring out a very chilled bottle of this Sparkler. It has very busy bubbles, a toasty bouquet and refreshing apple flavors. Great with snacks and dips.

CHARDONNAY 2009, Cinquante-Cinq (France) This is a wine for those who prefer their chardonnay not be masked by wood bouquet and flavors. This chardonnay has a nice straw color with a light floral bouquet with citrus undertones. It is sleek and elegant with flavors of honeysuckle and yellow apples and mineral. Clean and refreshing. A very nice dinner wine.
MAS DONIS 2007, Celler de Capcanes, (Spain) A blend of 85% Grenache and 15% Syrah, it has a deep rich cherry color and a big bouquet of berries, licorice and a slight hint of cinnamon. Full, complex body with flavors of spices and concentrated fruit. A long full finish. Aged in both American and French oak for 8 months.

PINOT GRIGIO, 2008 RIFF (Italy)
The grapes for this wine come from vineyards located in North-eastern Italy at the foot of the Alps. The color is medium straw and you will find hints of peaches in the bouquet. The wine is medium bodied with a lovely elegance that is followed by a full finish. This Pinot Grigio is fermented in stainless steel tanks followed by maturation on its lees to enhance fruit flavors.

TORRONTES 2008, NORTON (Argentina) Torrontes can be considered the signature white wine grape of Argentina. Norton’s Torrontes has a huge bouquet of flowers and peach followed by a well structured palate that is lush but remains dry. It has a clean, full finish. A really delicious wine! (Torrontes is similar to a Viognier.)
MERLOT RESERVE 2004, Jacob’s Creek (Australia) It begins with a rich bouquet of berries and cassis followed with flavors of plum with hints of spice and mint. This is a juicy, soft wine that is well balanced and elegant; a real “food wine” that will pair well with all types of meats.

RIESLING 2008, Chateau Ste. Michelle, Columbia Valley, Washington State.
This off-dry Riesling has glorious aromas followed by flavors of peach, lime, and apricot. The warm, sunny days and cool evening temperatures of the Columbia Valley created ideal conditions for this refreshing and crisp wine. Serve it chilled with fresh fruit and mild cheeses.
ZINFANDEL 2008, Cline Cellars (California)
The winery is owned by Fred and Nancy Cline. Fred learned his respect for agriculture from his grandfather, Valeriano Jacuzzi of pump and spa fame. This Zinfandel has a lively strawberry bouquet with smooth cherry and raspberry flavors and a easy , fruity finish. Cline Cellars farms naturally and avoids pesticides, fungicides and fertilizers that are used in everyday farming. This is a great Barbecue wine!

SAUVIGNON BLANC 2008, Matual Valley, Marlborough (New Zealand) This is a very imposing Sauvignon with a great herbaceous bouquet and the taste is totally Sauvignon Blanc grape with those wonderful green grass and tropical flavors. Nice fresh, lemony finish.
PRIMITIVO “Piluna” 2007, Castello Monaci (Italy) This Estate Bottled wine is made from 100% Primitivo grapes. ( also known as Zinfandel) It has rich, dark color with a bouquet of stewed prunes and herbs. Cherry pits flavors and berries on the palate with a soft finish that hints of licorice. Both wines were priced under $15 the bottle and were purchased from your local wine merchants.
