The authors of Walkable Westchester will present and sign their book. The book covers over 180 parks with almost 600 miles of trails in Westchester County. It includes sketch maps of all but the smallest parks. There is extensive history of the parks and the people involved. Icons show parks suitable for the handicapped, bikes, horses, dogs and cross country skiing. Operated by the Van Cortlandtville Historical Society with the goal of educating children to the early years of school life and to the rich history of the Van Cortlandtville and surrounding areas.  The Van Cortlandtville School was originally a mid-1800s one-room schoolhouse, which was abandoned in 1935 when the new school was built and is now a living history museum.

Croton Council on the Arts' Photographers of Northern Westchester Show.  Opening reception Sunday March 28 from 4-6pm.  They expect upward of 100 local photographers to participate in this exhibit held at the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship on Route 9A in Crugers.  This year's raffle prize is a large, limited edition chrome-pigment print titled "Near the Taconic".  Raffle tickets available at umami Cafe, 325 S.Riverside Ave in Croton and at Grouchy Gabe's Grill in the upper village.  Tickets are $2 ea or 6 for $10.  Winning ticket will be drawn at the close of the show on April 4th.  Viewing hours are March 29-April 2, 6-8pm and April 3 &4 from 2-5pm.

Preserves like Teatown, the reservoir, our mighty rivers and verdant hills, as well as a built environment steeped in history, are sources of endless inspiration. Finding a way to capture just a moment of that glory, of our sense of place, is exhilarating.” Ms. Leis, a longtime Croton on Hudson resident and realtor with Coldwell Banker, has served many years on Croton’s Board of the Visual Environment, is active in the Croton Arts Council, and was Board President of the Croton Cortlandt Center for the Arts where, almost seven years ago as a student under Anne Johann, she began exploring the world of watercolor.
