The Croton Police Dept. tip line is now going to cell phone. This means that tips may be texted to the number as well as verbally called in. The number is 271-0706.
The phone is not manned all the time so, to report a crime, dial 911 or 271-5177. 911 calls, If you make a 911 call from a landline phone, the call will be taken by the Croton Police Dept. However, if you make a 911 call from your cell phone, the call may not be picked up locally but rather by a more distant cellular tower and police station. It is then relayed to the Croton Police Dept. This can cause a short time delay in the response. It also makes it most important to include all relevant information in your call, especially your location. To avoid this delay when making an emergency call from a cell phone, it is best to call Croton Police directly at 271-5177.
